Family Roots - Orchid

In 2022, I had to throw together a portfolio for the first time in my life as I frantically applied to UCSC. I grew frustrated with my work as I spent the mornings in my garden. I felt like nothing I made was anywhere close to as beautiful as the nature that surrounded me. That's where I began to experiment, combining the two, with a background knowledge in urban architecture related to hydroponic systems, I embarked on a journey to create species-specific, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally friendly displays that have a story behind each design. The piece is designed to accommodate the needs of a singular orchid plant. While successful with both subspecies of orchid, I have found more personal success with those of the Cattleya variety.
